Lewisburg Borough Council is looking for a new Junior Borough Council member
Hello LASD Rising Juniors,
Lewisburg Borough Council is looking for a new Junior Borough Council member.
The Lewisburg Borough Council is composed of eight elected officials who live in the Lewisburg Borough. Two Borough Council members are elected from each of our four Wards and a Mayor is elected at large from within the Borough. Borough Council is tasked with making governance, budgeting, and planning decisions for the Borough.
Currently, there are two high school students (one Junior and one Senior) who sit on the Borough Council as “Junior Council Members.” These two students are tasked with staying up to date on Borough news, representing youth perspectives, and contributing to the monthly Borough meeting and Borough Council work session.
With one of these students graduating in May, Borough Council is looking for a student from the LAHS Class of 2028 to fill this opening. It is preferred that the student lives within Lewisburg Borough. However, Borough Council is willing to consider Lewisburg Area School District students who live in the surrounding Townships.
If you have any questions, please contact the Borough Office at 570-523-3614 or office@lewisburgborough.org. If you are interested in applying for this position, please send a resume and a letter of interest (explaining why you are interested in this position) to Lewisburg Borough Manager William Lowthert (wlowthert@lewisburgborough.org) as soon as possible.
Borough Council plans to discuss interested candidates at their June Borough Council Meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
