Emergency Notification System

CodeRED Community Notification System

Lewisburg Borough maintains an emergency notification system to alert residents and visitors of immediate weather-related emergencies. This system has two complimentary parts, an aerial siren/public address system and a mobile alert system.

The aerial siren/public address system consists of four locations throughout the Borough that are activated when a weather emergency is imminent. This system also performs a test the 1st Tuesday of every month to make residents and visitors aware that the system exists, that the system is operational, and that everyone becomes familiar with the emergency tone and public address verbal commands that emanate from each siren/public address location. It should be noted that the verbal commands may be distorted from time to time based on wind speed, prevailing wind direction, cloud cover/ceiling, and leaf-out/dormancy of local vegetative cover. Further, the verbal commands are not meant to be clearly heard from inside a building. Residents and visitors should always view their mobile phones for emergency instruction through the mobile alert system.

The mobile alert system works in conjunction with the aerial siren/public address system. The mobile alert system works in two ways; 1) it automatically notifies all landline phones located within Lewisburg Borough limits, and 2) notifies residents and visitors who frequent Lewisburg Borough on their mobile phone via cell phone, text, and/or email. Notification through a mobile device requires residents and visitors to self-register on the Borough’s homepage found at the CodeRED logo/link. This link is also provided below. Following registration of your contact information, activation of the CodeRED will allow the system to send a message to the mobile device during an emergency describing the situation and recommendation of what actions to take based on the emergency occurring.

Please take a moment to enroll in CodeRED to be notified by Lewisburg’s emergency response team in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts. Examples include: evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, and missing child reports.
