Two People Sought to Fill Open Positions on the Lewisburg Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB)

Lewisburg Borough seeks two people to fill open positions on the Lewisburg Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB).  The first open position is for a licensed real estate broker.  The second open position is for a person who has expertise, experience or a background in preservation, historical or planning areas.  Although Lewisburg Borough residents are preferred to fill both open positions on HARB, it is not a requirement.  Individuals with the required expertise will be considered regardless of their residency.  These are unpaid volunteer positions.  Potential appointees should have a background or an interest in historical Lewisburg and a desire to serve their community.

The purpose of the Lewisburg HARB is protecting the portions of the Borough which recall the rich architectural and cultural heritage of the Borough and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, awakening in the people of the Borough an interest in the historic past and promoting the general welfare, education and culture of the Borough, and for the further specific purposes of regulating the use and appearance of private property in order to protect the distinctive historical, architectural or aesthetic character of the historic district and regulating the erection, reconstruction, alteration, restoration, demolition and razing of buildings and structures within the historic district for the cultural and aesthetic benefit of the Borough (https://ecode360.com/11770406).

The Historic District in Lewisburg Borough is shown in green on the attached map.  HARB meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm in Borough Council Chambers at 55 South Fifth Street, Lewisburg.

Individuals who meet the specific requirements of the open positions and who have an interest in serving on HARB should submit a Letter of Interest and resume (if appropriate) to the Lewisburg Borough Secretary at 55 South Fifth Street, Lewisburg PA 17837 or office@lewisburgborough.org.  All Letters of Interest/resumes received will be forwarded to HARB for review and recommendation.  Lewisburg Borough Council will make the HARB appointments at a future date.
