The Borough’s Public Works crew will be sealing the rear deck and ramp used for public access to the Borough Office. Borough staff will still be available on Friday afternoon to assist you via phone. Feel free to call us at 570-523-3614. If you need to drop off something at the Borough Office, please use the silver box attached to the building on the South Fifth Street side. Normal access to the Borough Office will resume at 8:00 am on Monday, June 20, 2022.

LEWISBURG BOROUGH COUNCIL FOURTH WARD VACANCY NOTICE

Lewisburg Borough is announcing a vacancy on Borough Council in our Fourth Ward.  In general, the Lewisburg Borough Fourth Ward consists of areas in the Borough located west of U.S. Route 15 and areas located north of St. Anthony Street on the east side of U.S. Route 15.  To be considered for a position on Borough Council representing the Fourth Ward, you must:

  • be a registered elector of Lewisburg Borough;
  • have resided in Lewisburg Borough continuously for at least one year immediately prior to the appointment;
  • be a current resident of the Fourth Ward in Lewisburg Borough;
  • not be a school board member, a trustee of a charter school, or an employee of Lewisburg Borough;
  • not hold more than one elective Borough office at the same time;
  • submit an affidavit of residency to the Borough Secretary prior to being sworn in as an elected official.

The Borough of Lewisburg is accepting applications for a full-time Public Works employee to work primarily as our Mechanic/Operator or Mechanic/Laborer. Only one position is open, and that position may be filled at either level. The employee will typically work 40 hours or more per week. The successful applicant must either have or must obtain within the 90-day probationary period a Class B Pennsylvania Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with Air Brakes Endorsement. A minimum of five years’ experience working as a mechanic and five years’ experience operating construction-related equipment is required to be hired as a Mechanic/Operator. A minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a mechanic or the completion of specialized training in mechanical repair from a reputable educational or apprentice program is required to be hired as a Mechanic/Laborer. Previous experience working in the public sector or municipal government is a plus.

Position requires the ability to follow written procedures/oral instructions, perform a variety of manual tasks including mechanical repairs of equipment routinely used by municipalities, read diagrams associated with equipment, troubleshoot electrical issues on equipment, and perform heavy, repetitive, manual labor for prolonged periods, often under adverse weather conditions with random drug-testing a requirement of a CDL license. This is a full-time position with a pension and benefits as defined by a union contract. Wages during the ninety-day probationary period are $17.95/hour per the union contract. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, full-time wages for a Mechanic/Operator are $28.48/hour per the union contract or full-time wages for a Mechanic/Laborer are $27.06/hour per the union contract.
